Bathabile Dlamini and the ANC Women's League are hypocrites.

How can they say the ANC, which is their mother body, has regressed in the "gains" that the ANC has made for women in this country?

I seem to remember that it was this same Women's League that chose President Zuma over the former president, Thabo Mbeki, even though he had championed women's rights like no other ANC president before him.

His deputy president was a woman, but when it mattered the most, this Women's League dumped him, together with his deputy president, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka.

Now they had a golden opportunity to show their support for women in this country, but instead they chose slate politics. Instead of voting for Lindiwe Sisulu, they voted for David Mabuza, which consequently left Jessie Duarte as the only woman in the ANC Top 6.

It baffles me why they never rallied behind Sisulu. The only logical reason that comes to mind is that perhaps they don't think Sisulu is a woman.

This is the same Dlamini who does not understand that two wrongs don't make a right – she implored the people of South Africa to forgive the state capturers the same way they had forgiven the apartheid protagonists.

Dlamini and the Women's League (and other ANC leagues, for that matter) are hypocrites par excellence.
