The Robin Hood Foundation has called on the public to join their campaign “Buy-a-Brick” to help to build the Qhakaza Crèche situated in Ntshongweni, KwaZulu-Natal.

The foundation has successfully completed building about four projects over the past five years through the same campaign.

Siyanda Crèche was built in 2017, Lalelani Primary - phase 1 in 2018, Lalelani Primary - phase 2 in 2019, while Thando Labantwana Crèche was also built in 2019.

Founder of The Robin Hood Foundation, Cindy Norcott, said their aim was to raise R850 000 through a brick bought at the cost of R50.

Norcott said Early Childhood Development remained one of the foundation’s key focus areas.

“There is an existing, incomplete structure which we have built over the years and we cannot wait to accelerate the movement of kindness and finish this labour of love and passion.

“The first seven years of a child’s life forms the foundation that shapes their future health, happiness, growth, development and learning achievement at school, in the family, the community and in life in general. We want to make sure these precious children get the best possible chance for success,” said Norcott.

She said they were excited to start building the crèche and change the lives of the children in the Ntshongweni community.

Each brick bought will serve as an entry into a lucky draw for the chance to win some fantastic prizes. This meant if a person donates R500, they would receive 10 entries into the lucky draw.

The first prize will be a R5 000 Checkers voucher, the second prize a night away at the Hilton Bush Lodge for two while the third prize consists of a case of six red wines.

The lucky winners will be selected via a randomiser app and announced by the end of next month.
