Durban — An immediate response from a multidisciplinary team resulted in the quick recovery of a VW T-Cross which was hijacked in Montclair last week.
Last Thursday around 7.30pm, the Marshall Security Special Operations Team was activated to help Netstar track a silver VW T-Cross that was hijacked in the Montclair area earlier in the evening.
“Responding immediately to the last known location of the hijacked vehicle, our team, in co-ordination with the Durban North Crime Prevention Unit and Netstar tracking, swiftly located the vehicle. Within minutes, the abandoned VW T-Cross was found on Twilight Drive in the Gateway uMhlanga area,” said Marshall Security managing director Tyron Powell.
He said the vehicle was taken to Durban North SAPS for further investigation and processing.
“This swift recovery underscores the effectiveness of rapid response and collaboration between security teams,” Powell said.
Police have been approached for comment.
Last month, the Fidelity Services Group community and marketing head Charnel Hattingh said basic personal safety habits can go a long way to preventing a hijacking from happening in your driveway.
“In the sad situation where you do become a victim of a hijacking, it is critical to remain calm and to comply with instructions. Try to notice as much information as you can about the hijackers and the backup car they might be using,” Hattingh said.
