Durban — Dolphins’ master bowler Eathan Bosch looks forward to playing at “home", as he is set to represent the Pretoria Capitals in the upcoming SA20 League.

Bosch, 24, is a right-arm fast bowler born in Westville, Durban. He completed his education at Hilton College. The Durbanite represented the Hollywoodbets Dolphins during the 2022/23 CSA T20 Challenge.

Bosch, who was born in Durban, considers Pretoria as his second home due to his family links there.

“It’s always nice to play where dad used to play. It does bring its own challenges but it will be good to play at home.”

Bosch will be representing the Pretoria Capitals - which is owned by JSW Sports, who are also co-owners of Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Bosch’s dad represented Transvaal in the late 1980s and early 1990s while his older brother Corbin is currently representing the Titans.

The 2022/23 CSA T20 Challenge took place in Potchefstroom between October 17 and November 5, 2022. The final was between the Hollywood Bets Dolphins and the Momentum Multiply Titans. The Titans were eventual 4-wickets victors. Although they narrowly missed out on the title, the Dolphins will feel their season was still successful and Bosch’s contribution was a reason for this.

“With regards to the final, we played a good game. It’s just one of those things. Personally, I am happy to have contributed to the team reaching the finals.

“In terms of the SA20 league, it will be nice to play more T20 cricket as I don’t play it that much and that there’s nothing better than match practice.”

Bosch will be in the same team as New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham; Sri Lankan batter Kusal Mendis and England bowler Adil Rashid.

“It will be good to learn as much as I can and gain good experience with these internationals. I’m excited just to be involved.”

Bosch’s fielding coach, Mduduzi Mbatha, also commented on the player’s season. “For him to have an economy rate of 5.12 during the power play is exceptional – especially his performance against the Warriors (2/3 after two overs). The nice thing about him was that he was able to strike. If not, he was able to keep the team to a low score. He is a swing bowler but was able to show good control with the new ball and his change-ups were very good. He was a really valuable player in this competition.”

Bosch finished the season with 11 wickets from nine matches with an economy rate of 5.12. His best figures were 2/3 -which he achieved against the Warriors.
