The family of legendary South African actor Don Mlangeni Nawa have announced the details for his memorial service and funeral.

The former “Isidingo” actor who portrayed the character of Zeb Matabane will be remembered by his friends and family at the Soweto Theatre on Thursday April 24.

Mlangeni Nawa will be laid to rest on April 26 and the proceedings will be held at Alberton Civic Theatre.

The 65-year-old actor died on April 16. His family confirmed the news in a statement.

“He was the heart of our family - a loving father, brother, and friend. To the world, he was a gifted and respected actor whose presence lit up every stage and screen he graced. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the stories he told, and the love he gave so freely,” read the statement.

In 2018, the thespian was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Royalty Soapie Awards. He is known for his roles on productions such as "The Estate", “The Throne”, “Legacy”, "Sgudi Snaysi", "Uzalo", and "Abomama".

Angus Gibson, Bomb Productions' Creative Director and Executive Producer, who worked with the acclaimed actor on “Shaka iLembe,” in his tribute praised the talented thespian.

“His powerful and memorable portrayal of King Langa, the father of Zwide, in ‘Shaka iLembe’ will forever be etched in our hearts. 

“Don was not only a remarkable talent but a true legend of our industry. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who were touched by his work. He will be remembered and revered always,” said Gibson.
