Chatsworth wrestler Joshua “The Bull” Chetty is looking forward to bringing the heat in Pietermaritzburg next month.

Chetty, 32, is the current World Association of Wrestling South Africa (WAWSA) Arnold’s Champion and gets in the ring in Pietermaritzburg on October 12 for the launch of the New South African Wrestling (NSAW), founded and owned by wrestler Matthew Hammer.

Inspired by legends such as The Rock, The Undertaker and Goldberg, Chetty began wrestling in 2010.

“I used to see these individuals wrestling and it sparked my interest in wrestling. I told myself that one day I will be doing what these guys are doing.

“My favourite was The Undertaker and he was the main reason for me getting into the ring,” he said.

According to Chetty, he is made unique by his personality and aggression in the ring, allowing him to dominate opponents.

His training routine comprises a combination of weight training with intensive cardio, gym, and a strict nutritious diet.

Chetty was born into an athletic family, took part in codes such as rugby, soccer, discus, power-lifting and kickboxing before his wrestling career.

“Staying physically fit was one of my main goals. I did have a lot of obstacles along the way, but I looked at the bigger picture and the bright future. My future is ultimately in God’s hands,” he said.

“I would like to thank all my supporters because I would not have made it this far if it had not been for them.

“One of the reasons that keeps my passion burning is the wrestling community, since I am doing this not only for myself but for the people out there,” he said.

When he is not in the ring, he runs a supplement shop at The Rock Gym and Wellness Centre in Chatsworth.

Chetty said he had many hopes for his future in wrestling.

“I hope to go as far as possible, and hopefully follow in the footsteps of former WWE superstars Justin Gabriel and Adam Rose, two South Africans that made it to the WWE.

“I also hope to wrestle with as many international wrestling superstars and travel to as many places as possible,” he said.
