Sunlight is one of the best disinfectants available – and it’s free. We should all therefore welcome the opening of the National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) interviews for the rays of the sun to shine through.

While the president still retains the prerogative to make the appointments, there shouldn’t be any surprises any more.
But I can’t say the line-up represents our legal crème de la crème. Perhaps something can still be done about this.
Maybe you, the reader and citizen, should get involved now, or forever hold your peace. While on transparency, uMhlanga Spar and Finchley Barn Eggs should be commended for the open and responsive manner in which they dealt with the salmonella scare last week.
In the end, the company’s eggs were cleared, but, importantly, the way it reacted must have reassured customers.
Others can take a leaf from their openness and responsive book.
