Fashion luxury brand Maxhosa Africa celebrated Heritage Day in style by launching its first retail destination in South Africa.

Known for creating sustainable clothes rooted in the South African heritage, predominantly Xhosa, Laduma Ngxokolo, the creative director of the brand, announced that its new retail destination was at Sandton City, Africa’s richest square mile for easy accessibility.

“One day, we will share a tell-all story to our daughters and sons, of how we pursued an idea that was deemed to be irrational and out of place; how we reimagined our magnificent and infinite ethnic Nguni beadwork art craft into modern, novelty fashion pieces to adorn the world,” Ngxokolo said.

“If you have added value into our vision in the smallest way or in a big way, or at least intended to. Please look at yourself in the mirror and pat yourself on the … (back) for being part of changing our family’s lives for the better while we change other families’ lives as we grow.”

Speaking of growth, Maxhosa is expanding its global footprint. Earlier this year, the brand opened a store in New York and is infiltrating Paris.

On Friday, September 27, the brand will unveil its Spring/Summer 2025 collection at Paris Fashion Week.

In partnership with TRESemme to launch the Maxhonassaince collection inspired by Renaissance art, the collection speaks to the rebirth of African fashion – the brand is set to showcase not only African fashion but traditional hairstyles that celebrate African hair.
