The municipal manager of Edumbe Local Municipality, Kuhlekonke Khumalo, died in a car accident last Tuesday morning near Vryheid in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
Khumalo was described as someone who was devoted and dedicated to his job.
Salga KZN, said in a statement that Khumalo was known for his unwavering commitment to fostering growth and development within Edumbe Municipality.
Salga said their thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the Khumalo family during this difficult time.
"The South African Local Government expresses profound sorrow at the passing of Edumbe Municipality's Municipal Manager, Kuhlekonke Khumalo, who tragically lost his life in a car accident on Tuesday, 27 August 2024.
"Mr Khumalo was a respected leader, dedicated to public service and the betterment of the community. He was known for his unwavering commitment to fostering growth and development within Edumbe Municipality, as well as his vision for a prosperous and sustainable future.
“Khumalo's leadership has left an indelible mark on the lives of many, and his loss will be deeply felt by colleagues, friends, and the community at large. May his loved ones find strength and comfort as they navigate this profound loss," read the statement.
