DURBAN - KWAZULU-NATAL is well represented in the Miss South Africa Competition.
Four contestants from the province were among the top 30 unveiled by the Miss South Africa Organisation on its YouTube channel on Tuesday night.
They have spoken about their ambitions for the Miss SA title
Andile Mazibuko, Lalela Mswane, Lisanne Lazarus and Savannah de Almeida are among the beauties competing for the Miss SA title.
Andile Mazibuko is from eMabedlane in Ulundi and lives on the Durban Berea. The 23-year-old is a final-year homoeopathy student at the Durban University of Technology.
“I entered Miss South Africa because I want to amplify all the socio-economic issues faced by young people. The Miss South Africa mission statement and values of the platform align with my goals so I believe my skills, with the help of those before me, will make an impact in bettering the future,” she said.
Lalela Mswane from KwaSokhulu in Richards Bay is a 24-year-old model and dancer with a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Pretoria. Mswane said entering Miss SA was her childhood dream.
“I am hopeful of this title because I believe that my advocacy against the abatement of unemployment in our nation is one which requires dire attention,” she said.
Lisanne Lazarus is a 25-year-old public relations and brand officer for a radio station in KZN. Lazarus aspires to use the Miss SA platform to inspire women.
“The platform will give me an opportunity to stand as a vessel for every untold story, but most importantly, inspire others to break their own glass ceilings,” she said.
Savannah de Almeida from Hillcrest is a social media and digital marketing specialist. The 23-year-old hopes to use the Miss SA Platform to help young people fight the tide of unemployment.
“I will use this platform to not only be credible proof that it is possible to overcome unemployment, but educate young women on how to bridge the gap between where they are and where they want to be,” she said.
Voting lines are open and the public are invited to be part of the top 10 selection that will be announced later this month.
