DURBAN - The ANC’s 2019 election manifesto was nothing more than a damp squib grinding out the same repetition.

Nothing was mentioned about rampant crime, corruption, improvement of poor municipal services, state capture or the failure of government administration.

Just think, the ANC gave secretary-general Ace Magashule a top-level position within the party.

The ANC just wants to be the official powerhouse with support from rural areas.

The party really does not care for these people’s welfare, especially the poor and those living in desperate conditions.

Since the dawn of democracy we still see thousands of informal settlements all over South Africa.

Promises are made which are all election ploys, and bringing former president Jacob Zuma to Moses Madiba stadium may just cost the ANC votes.

With the numerous corruption allegations surrounding Zuma, he should be dropped from the party; by retaining him the ANC is tainting itself.

It seems as though the ANC does not believe in cleansing itself of bad elements, or should I say rotten apples, from the former Zuma regime.

Where is their dignity?

President Cyril Ramaphosa has admitted the ANC made mistakes, but deliberate stealing and wasteful expenditure in all three tiers of government cannot be categorised as mistakes - this is corruption.

Worst of all is the collapse of services by ANC-controlled municipalities such as the Umdoni Municipality (known as the jewel of the South Coast) that have consistently failed to provide the community with services.

The ANC must go back to the drawing board to work out a strategy to address service delivery.
