La Paz - All 17 ministers of Bolivian President Evo Morales's Cabinet have stepped down in an expected move that comes as the president completes the first year of his second term.

Morales has seen his popularity numbers fall from 70 percent a year ago to 36 percent this week - in part due to his now-abandoned attempt to hike gasoline prices, a move that caused widespread protests.

Morales completed the first year of his second four-year term on Saturday, prompting the ministers to tender their resignations on Sunday in a collective letter that Foreign Minister David Choquehuanca read to a news conference.

Despite the resignations, Morales has shown resistance to making widespread Cabinet changes as some sectors have demanded. - Sapa-AP
