Red roses scattered over two white coffins brought home the tragic consequences of the floods that engulfed Australia’s northeast this month. Donna Rice and her 13-year-old son Jordan were swept to their deaths ten days ago when flash floods hit the Brisbane suburb of Toowomba, two of the 26 people killed thus far by the disaster, according to Daily Mail.
And in the first funeral of the Queensland flood victims, Ms Rice and Jordan were laid to rest, the heroic teenager having sacrificed his life so that rescuers could save his younger sibling. When rescuers reached the family’s submerged car last week, Jordan - who could not swim - implored them to save his ten-year-old brother Blake first.
