Plane crashes near Swiss resort

on Berlin - Two people were killed on Sunday when the light aircraft they were flying in crashed near the St Moritz ski resort in Switzerland, police said.

The small plane was approaching the nearby airport at Engadin when it hit a power line in heavy snow, according to the Swiss news agency SDA.

The plane burst into flames before crashing.

The names of the victims have not been released. Neighbouring towns were blacked out by a power failure following the accident.

Engadin airport is a small private airport frequently used by the wealthy, and celebrities travelling to St Moritz, just a few miles away. - Sapa-dpa
