Kathmandu - A small plane with 22 people onboard has gone missing in east Nepal, an official said on Wednesday.

The Twin Otter aircraft operated by Tara Air went out of contact after taking off from Lamidanda, 162km east of Kathmandu, Sunil Niraula, a senior official in the nearest town of Khotang told Reuters.

“We are trying to gather details about the passengers on board and the fate of the aircraft,” Niraula said.

Fourteen people including six foreigners were killed in an aircrash in August in rainy weather near Kathmandu. - Reuters
