Young demonstrators who have camped out in one of Madrid's busiest plazas to protest bleak economic prospects have voted to end more than three weeks of protest this weekend.
Several hundred people raised their hands at meeting early Wednesday to approve a proposal to take down the camp in the Puerta del Sol on Sunday.
A minority of participants rejected the proposal and may continue the protest against high unemployment and political corruption.
The protests began May 15 and spread to cities across the country and elsewhere in Europe striking a chord of sympathy with hundreds of thousands of people.
The activists are angry over Spain's 21 percent jobless rate and the handling of the economic crisis by Spain's politicians and financial institutions. - Sapa-AP
