Hong Kong - A 13-year-old Hong Kong schoolgirl has been sentenced to a two-year probation for threatening to kill her mother for confiscating her cellphone, a radio report said on Saturday.
The girl was arrested and put in a children's home two weeks ago after she grabbed two meat cleavers and a chef's knife and made the threats, government-run RTHK radio reported.
She pleaded guilty to criminal intimidation at a hearing Friday in a juvenile court where she burst into tears and asked to be allowed to return to her parents' home.
Magistrate Lambert Lee put the girl, who as a juvenile cannot be identified, on probation for two years and told her to reappear before the court in four months' time to report on her progress. - Sapa-dpa
