A girl of 14 murdered a man after charges against him for sexually abusing her sister were dropped, a court heard on Tuesday.

The teenager and her older sister’s boyfriend, also 14, are alleged to have stabbed Robert Daley, 45, to death in his kitchen during a row.

In the weeks before the killing, she had told police that Daley “had asked her to have sex with him since she was 11-years-old” but she would not make a further statement.

The accused girl’s 16-year-old sister received a call from Daley on the day he was told of the Crown Prosecution Service’s decision to drop the charges.

Jonathan Rees QC, prosecuting, described the call as the “catalyst” for what was to follow.

He said: “It was plain that this phone call upset her because a little over 10 minutes later she sent a text message to him.”

“It read: ‘I really don’t want anything to do with you. You are a perverted man and I will never forgive you.’”

Shortly after speaking to him, the teenager called her younger sister and boyfriend. None of the youths can be named for legal reasons.

Rees said: “She must have informed the defendants about the phone call and this motivated them to pay Robert Daley a visit.”

The pair, both now 15, arranged to meet and went to the block of flats in Brixton, South-West London, where Daley lived on April 23 this year.

A female friend let them in and went back to watch television in the front room while Daley shut the door to the room and went to see the youngsters.

Five minutes later, she heard him shout: “Call the police, call the ambulance. They’ve stabbed my artery.” He crashed into the living room and collapsed dying on the floor.

“He had been stabbed five times including twice in the heart. The youths fled the scene.

In the aftermath of the attack, the girl told friends that she had stabbed Daley because he had sexually assaulted her.

She was arrested on April 26 and told police Daley was a “dirty paedophile” who had first abused her when she was 12.

She said she went to Daley’s flat on the day of his murder with the boy to “hustle” him for some money.

The girl said Daley had tried to sexually assault her and the boy lunged at him. Rees said the boy, who did not answer police questions, was expected to admit stabbing Daley in self-defence.

Daley was arrested in January this year on suspicion of sexually assaulting the 16-year-old girl.

The youngster, who often stayed at the man’s flat, told police he had “indecently touched” her. It was during this investigation that her younger sister said Daley had pestered her for sex since she was 11.

Daley - a heavy drinker who took crack cocaine - was released on bail while police continued their inquiries on the condition that he had no contact with his alleged victims.

Rees said despite this, the teenager asked to stay at the man’s home and her younger sister continued to visit.
