Hong Kong -

A 79-year-old Hong Kong man was convicted of killing his wife of 45 years after saying he could no longer bear her constant nagging, a news report said on Tuesday.

Ng Kwok-yuen hacked So Yuen-yee, 68, more than 30 times with a meat cleaver in August 2009 and claimed decades of nagging drove him to kill, the Hong Kong edition of the China Daily said.

In police interviews, Ng said his wife never appreciated him, watched television while he did all the housework and told him he was ugly, the newspaper said. The couple had three grown children.

Ng was convicted of manslaughter after Hong Kong's High Court heard he was suffering from dementia and on Monday was sentenced indefinitely to a psychiatric centre, the newspaper said. - Sapa-dpa
