As iconic as Harley-Davidson is in the world of motorcycling, there's a lot of prejudice against them among riders of other brands. Many people considering buying a big cruiser or touring bike won't even look at a Harley.
“Too slow, too heavy,” they say. “Archaic design, outdated styling.”
All of which is true, but they're also comfortable, easy to ride, as stable as the Rock of Gibraltar, beautifully finished and astonishingly light on fuel.
Harley dealers often say that if more people actually rode a Harley before making up their minds, fewer would slag them off. So now Harley-Davidson Africa has launched a demo campaign with a serious prize to be won.
THE RIDE OF A LIFETIME
Anybody who books online and goes on a test ride before 30 June 2012 stands a chance to win a Wild West Tour in the United States in 2013 for the rider and his pillion, worth R100 000.
The tour includes return flights from a South African airport, a rented Harley-Davidson to ride, accommodation, meals, fuel and travel insurance. The route takes in Lake Elsinore, the Joshua Tree National Park, the M0ojave Desert, the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Bryce Canyon, Las Vegas, Death Valley, Yosemite, San Francisco and the Pacific Coast Highway.
T’s & C’s
You must be a South African resident to enter, with a valid South African motorcycle licence and passport. The winner will be drawn at random from all online test ride booking entries and will be notified by Harley-Davidson on or before 23 July 2012. Simple as that.
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY
You don't have to buy a bike to qualify but, if you do, you'll go into another draw as well, for R10 000 worth of parts, accessories and bikewear.
