The first official exterior picture of the all-new Mercedes S-Class has been posted on the worldwide web, apparently by mistake, ahead of its official reveal that's said to be taking place in the middle of May.

Although we can only see it from the front-three-quarter angle, it's clear that the new big daddy of Mercs has a more charismatic personality. Upfront we see a bigger and bolder grille, with headlights that curve around it, and there is more than a passing resemblance to the CLS in its side profile.

Mercedes-Benz has yet to release information on its mechanical content, although you can be sure that it will be brimming with new innovations.

That said, Mercedes has let slip on some of its cabin gadgets and shown us pictures of its interior - and you can see all of that in our previous story .

Mercedes has placed a greater emphasis on the back seat comfort with its new limo, and there will be five different rear seat packages on offer, including an Executive Seat with a backrest that can be adjusted to 43.5 degrees.

Other highlights include a 'hot-stone-style' massaging system with six different programmes and a multi-user entertainment function that four different occupants to use different entertainment systems at the same time.
