Shortly after Mazda announced that it would be recalling over 72 000 vehicles across the globe, a Ford South Africa spokesperson has informed us that 547 of these vehicles are Mazda5's that were sold in South Africa between June 2009 and April 2010.
The problematical part is a fuel pump in which certain components may corrode due to moisture being accidentally trapped inside the pump, which could ultimately lead to engine failure in the worst case scenario.
The affected Mazda customers will be contacted directly in order to bring their vehicle to the closest Mazda dealership, where their fuel pump will be replaced at no cost.
Mazda has gotten off lightly in the greater scheme of recall things - just think of poor Toyota and the 12-million vehicles it has had to recall in the past year!
