It seems there's been no shortage of Nissan GT-R owners in South Africa crying out for a sports package and now their wish has been granted.
Nissan's international motorsport arm, NISMO, has certified Global GT-R in Hatfield, Pretoria, as an authorized dealer in South Africa to sell the NISMO Club Sports Package for the Nissan GT-R (R35).
The main aim of the package, which was developed through the joint efforts of NISMO and Nissan development staff, is to increase performance at race circuits. Despite this, consideration has also been given to driving comfort on regular roads and highways, says Nissan.
Improved handling and reduced weight come via numerous components, including 20-inch Rays alloy wheels (with a +45mm offset at the front and +25mm offset at the back), electronically controlled Bilstein Damptronic struts and lighter exhaust components. In the cabin, lighter seats further aid the car's weight shedding ideal.
The upgrade menu includes installation, alignment, and other setup-related items and customers have been advised to stick to genuine Nissan GT-R special specified parts and to ensure that the NISMO GT-R Clubsport package is fitted by Global GT-R to ensure that the warranty remains valid.
Global GT-R will be only the second dealership outside Japan that has been certified to sell the Club Sports Package. While NISMO has appointed Global GT-R as a NISMO certified garage for the Nissan GT-R, they will also make available a NISMO developed and engineered car for exclusive track usage.
The Nissan GT-R is currently sold and serviced via two Nissan High Performance Centres, one in Johannesburg (Melrose Nissan) and the other in Pretoria (Global GT-R in Hatfield). However, there have been many requests for a servicing dealer in the Western Cape.
