Last week numerous international sources stated that Nissan had confirmed that it's working on a high performance version of its Juke crossover vehicle, but information was limited.
Now Nissan has spilled the beans on the project and has confirmed that the Juke-R (as it's now been dubbed) will in fact be powered by the Nissan GT-R's engine.
Don't get too excited though, as the Juke-R is a one-off concept that won't go into production, although the concept, built by motorsports outfit RML, is fully road legal.
This monstrous crossover was essentially designed to answer one simple question - what do you get when you cross a Nissan Juke with a Nissan GT-R? The answer, says Nissan is “the fastest and most exciting crossover in the world.”
As mentioned, motivation comes from a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 engine lifted directly from the GT-R, implying that it retains the supercar's outputs of 390kW and 612Nm. Power is channelled to all four wheels via a modified version of the GT-R's all-wheel drive system.
As these official sketches show, the Juke-R puts on a tough pose with 20-inch 'Rays' alloy wheels, flared wheel arches, redesigned front and rear bumpers and a unique split rear wing.
Fittingly, the Juke's cabin has also been tinkered with to fit the gauges, dials and seven-inch LCD display from the GT-R. The interior also houses a roll cage and two racing seats with five-point harnesses.
