Schools grapple with material shortages, dilapidated buildings and heavy rains on first day back

Heavy rainfall across the country, particularly in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng, prompted early school closures and added to the woes of already struggling schools. Unfinished building projects, like Nancefield Primary School and Kliptown Secondary School, remain incomplete since 2018, leaving students in temporary and hazardous conditions.
