Skeem Saam actress and radio personality Pebetsi Nolo Matlaila has opened up about how she is currently without a home and living with her children in a women's shelter.
In a video shared on social media, the mental health advocate said the shelter is owned and run by the police. "It's very safe here, there are only women and children. Everything is provided for. They keep you here until you feel safe enough to get out there if you can when you come for a domestic violence situation or you can stay long enough here to get back on your feet," Matlaila shared.
She explained that she has been trying to survive with her job on radio and has found it difficult to find other jobs.

Matlaila added that she has not sought help from friends and family because she does not want to burden others. "I don't know how to ask for help. I also don't want to burden anyone. I get a lot of questions about why I don't send my kids to live with my mother in Limpopo while I find my way in Johannesburg.
"My mother does not even live in the town that I come from. She only goes to that house on holidays and weekends. She has sacrificed too much for me already for me and my children. Other family members look at me as if I'm a leech that is sucking my mother dry."
She went on to say that she wants to make it on her own without the help of family. Matlaila shared that the financial hardships started when she left her ex and was left with one income.
