As the calendar year winds down, the excitement surrounding The Official South African Charts intensifies, spotlighting the artists and songs that have defined the musical landscape in 2024.

With only a few weeks left until we usher in 2024, music lovers are rife with speculation about which track will be hailed the Song of the Year when the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Eve.

The anticipation builds as fans reflect on the hits that scored significant streaming success throughout the year.

The Official South African Charts reveal that the rankings, calculated from December 29, 2023 to November 28, 2024, aggregate streams from major platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, and YouTube, painting a vivid picture of audience preferences.

Leading the charge in the International Top 200 is the dynamic collaboration of Mthunzi and Kabza De Small with their hit track Imithandazo, featuring powerhouse talents Young Stunna, DJ Maphorisa, Sizwe Alakine, and Umthakathi Kush.

This chart-topping anthem has amassed a staggering 26 million streams, solidifying its position as a crowd favourite and a testament to the thriving South African music scene.

Tshwala Bam by TitoM and Yuppe follows closely at #3, having taken the musical world by storm. This track has also garnered an impressive 16 million streams. Its widespread appeal makes it a deserving contender in this year's elite rankings.

Meanwhile, Dlala Thukzin’s IPlan, featuring Zaba and Sykes, charms listeners at #7, becoming a beloved sing-along staple with its catchy refrain, tallying an impressive 12 million streams. This infectious tune encapsulates the spirit of celebration, bringing people together on dance floors and in homes across the country.

Global star Tyla, has also tantalised audiences with her hit Water, clinching the 11th position.

This track has made a splash on the charts, achieving just under 10 million streams across all digital streaming platforms. Tyla’s continued rise highlights the vibrant talent flourishing in the South African music scene.

As we approach the new year, the South African music industry showcases its rich diversity and creativity, promising an exciting competition for the coveted title of Song of the Year.

With exceptional talent and infectious sounds, the charts are a thrilling reminder of the depth of artistic expression resonating in South Africa today.
