Johannesburg – Joint winners of the One Day Cup last season, the Cobras kick off the South African 2013/2014 franchise cricket season with a 50-over match against the Titans in Centurion on October 11.

The Cobras were forced to share the trophy with the Lions after the franchise final was rained off in Johannesburg two days in a row.

The One Day competition runs through to the middle of November when the four-day series comes into play.

“The various competitions are arranged in such a way as to dovetail with the requirements of the Proteas' international activities in the various formats,” said Cricket SA's acting CEO Naasei Appiah.

“As an additional plus the nationally contracted players should be available for a significant portion of the T20 series and this will help a lot to raise the profile of our franchise competitions.”

The domestic T20 competition runs from January 8 to February 10, during the annual hiatus of the four-day competition.

Many of the games are also scheduled to take place during the break between the Indian and Australian incoming tours. – Sapa
