Durban - The Dolphins have been dealt a double blow ahead of their SuperSport Series cricket match against the Titans in Pietermaritzburg starting on Thursday.

Batsman Vaughn van Jaarsveld was handed a three-month ban by the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport, it was reported on Wednesday, after failing a doping test last year.

Van Jaarsveld, who had been provisionally suspended by Cricket SA (CSA), tested positive in October 2010 for sibutramine, apparently after taking diet pills.

Spin bowler Imran Tahir, in the Proteas squad for a three-match ODI series against Australia later this month, was being rested, the KwaZulu-Natal Cricket union said in a statement, on request of the CSA as an injury precaution. - Sapa
