Proteas opener Richard Levi smashed his sixth career half-century, guiding the Cobras to a six-wicket victory over the Knights in their T20 Challenge clash in Paarl on Sunday.
Chasing 157 runs to win, the Cobras reached their target with eight balls to spare.
Levi made 61 off 32 balls, reaching his fifty off 29 deliveries to lay the foundation for the hosts.
He was removed in the 10th over when spinner Werner Coetsee had him caught behind, but Dane Vilas and Justin Kemp held the middle order together.
They shared an unbroken 55-run stand for the fifth wicket that carried the Cape franchise home.
Vilas (34 not out) and Kemp (22 not out) contributed to the Cobras' fifth win of the competition, remaining entrenched in a close race for the playoffs.
Coetsee produced the most resistance from the Knights attack, returning 2/21.
The Knights had produced a solid team effort after they won the toss.
Opener Morne van Wyk and Reeza Hendricks both made 31, top-scoring for the visitors to lead the top-order.
And while the Cobras attack restricted the Knights from building significant partnerships, Ryan McLaren and Coetsee shared a stubborn 44-run stand for the fifth wicket to keep them ticking over.
McLaren made 21 and Coetsee was unbeaten on 23 as the visitors reached 156/7.
Australian Brad Hogg and fellow spinner Alistair Gray bagged two wickets each to lead the Cobras attack. – Sapa
