Johannesburg - The Highveld Lions overcame rain and light disruptions to clinch a seven-wicket victory over the Knights, with four balls to spare on the Duckworth-Lewis method, in Potchefstroom on Wednesday evening.
Chris Morris shone with bat and ball as the hosts, who picked up their fifth win in seven matches, cemented themselves at the top of the T20 Challenge standings.
The match was reduced to 18 overs a side after rain delayed the start.
Chasing 137 to win, the Lions were restricted to 61/2, still needing 76 runs from 48 balls, when the stadium lights failed.
When they returned, the home side needed a revised target of 29 runs off three overs.
Chris Morris, unbeaten on 21, smashed three successive boundaries off Werner Coetsee, including two sixes, to put the Lions in control as they strengthened their grip on the competition.
Gulam Bodi had laid the foundation of the Lions' innings, contributing 40 runs off 34 balls to set up the win.
However, Knights CEO Johan van Heerden indicated that they would not accept the result of the match and would be taking it up with Cricket South Africa (CSA) following two floodlight failures during the Lions innings that changed the latter's target.
Earlier, Morris returned career best figures of 4/22 as the visitors reached 136/9.
The Knights got off to an explosive start after they were sent in to bat.
Morne van Wyk, who made 38 runs, and Rilee Rossouw, with 27, raced to their half-century partnership from the first five overs before spinner Aaron Phangiso got the early breakthrough, removing the opening pair.
Morris spearheaded the attack through the middle overs as they tore through the Knights line-up, with the visitors losing six wickets for 24 runs.
