Johannesburg - A 181-run opening partnership for the Lions turned around their SuperSport Series match against the Titans in Benoni on Wednesday.

The Lions came to the crease after dismissing the Titans for 384 and Stephen Cook and Alviro Petersen fronted up against the visitors' pace attack.

Petersen went to his century off 142 balls, striking 15 fours and two sixes, before he was dismissed in the 55th over.

Petersen will be giving the national selectors something to think about with his ton, and keeping the pressure on the under-performing Jacques Rudolph. Peterson was dismissed off the bowling of Rowan Richards, caught behind by Heino Kuhn.

Jonathan Vandiar joined Cook at the wicket for a partnership of 43, before he was out for a brisk 23. At close of play, Cook was not out on 95.

In Paarl, the Warriors failed to capitalise on an overnight score of 239/4 with Colin Ingram on 119* and Wayne Parnell on 29* and ended 320 all out against the Cape Cobras.

Cobras bowler Beuran Hendricks removed both players, bowling Ingram for 140 and Parnell caught by Kemp for 33.

Hendricks ended the innings with figures of four for 60 in his 24 overs.

When the Cobras came out to bat, they were soon in trouble at 48 for three. This brought together JP Duminy (68) and Justin Ontong (62) who shared in a 103-run partnership before Basheer Walters had Ontong caught behind by Athenkosi Dyili.

Captain Justin Kemp was caught and bowled by Simon Harmer for six, and Lyall Meyer removed Dane Vilas and Robin Peterson in quick succession.

In Bloemfontein the Knights moved on from 172 for 5 to 340 all out in 120 overs against the Dolphins.

Morne van Wyk top scored for the Knights with 79. There were no substantial partnerships although the low order contributed without converting good starts.

Former Lions bowler now playing for the Dolphins, Robbie Frylinck picked up five wickets (5/90) as did Mothokozisi Shezi with his five for 83.

When the Dolphins came out to bat they were soon in trouble at 9 for 2, leaving Daryn Smit and Martin van Jaarsveld at the crease. At close of play, the visitors had 42/2. - Sapa
