Rossouw, Elgar shine for Knights

A second-wicket partnership of 157 between Rilee Rossouw and Dean Elgar enabled the Knights to reach 281 for six at the close of play on the first day of their SuperSport-series match against the Warriors at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley.

Play was delayed until after lunch, due to a wet outfield.

At close of play Ryan McClaren was on 22 and Johan van der Wath on six.

Rossouw found the ropes on 14 occasions in his 196-ball 122. It was Rossouw’s ninth first-class century and his first in this season’s SuperSport-series.

The partnership was brought to an end when Elgar was caught by Justin Kreusch off the bowling of Jon Jon Smuts. Elgar's struck 10 fours in an obstinate 150-ball 70.

The Warriors struck first after the delayed start when Reeza Hendricks (12) was caught by Basheer Walters off the bowling of Andrew Birch.

Birch also claimed the wickets of Adrian McLaren who failed to trouble the scorers and Morne van Wyk (14). The quickie finishing with three for 56 off 17 overs. – Sapa
