Johannesburg – The Titans saw off a spirited innings from Colin Ingram to wrap up a 66-run victory over the Warriors at SuperSport Park on Sunday and complete the perfect start to their Sunfoil Series campaign.

As long as Ingram was at the crease the Warriors retained a chance of chasing a tricky target of 332, but his dismissal by Henry Davids for 74 just before lunch broke the back of the visitors.

They were eventually bowled out for 265, as the Titans took 18.2 points from the game. Heino Kuhn was named man of the match for his 141 in the first innings, which made all the difference in the final reckoning.

The Warriors began the fourth day on 126 for three with Ingram on 25, and advanced to 172 as Ingram and Jerry Nqolo extended their partnership for the fourth wicket to 62.

Rowan Richards broke the stand when he had Nqolo caught behind for 17, but it was the next two wickets that proved decisive as Davids dismissed Clyde Fortuin and then Ingram.

That left the lower order to scratch together a further 123 runs if they were going to pull off the victory, and although Simon Harmer did his best to stretch the innings, batting almost two hours for his unbeaten 19, he eventually ran out of partners.

Richards finished with figures of 3/2, while Davids, Ethy Mbhalati and Eldred Hawken all claimed two wickets apiece.
