As the 2024/25 Betway Premiership approaches, Cape Town City chairman John Comitis is aiming for silverware this season.
The Citizens have been one of the most consistent teams in the Premiership, finishing inside the top eight for the last four seasons. Their best showing was during the 2021/22 season, after managing to finish in second place.
Given the club’s consistent showing in the league, Comitis believes that a mid-table finish is simply just not good enough anymore and wants the club to challenge for silverware this season.

“I was done by the end of April. I have got a clear picture as what we want to achieve, we want to compete for everything,” Comitis told Sport Nights Amplified on Metro FM.
“Position four or five is not good anymore, we need to bring that silverware.”
To achieve their goals, the club has signed 10 players players including former Orlando Pirates star Fortune Makaringe and Bafana international Kamohelo Mokotjo, while also promoting young players from their development ranks.
The Citizens’ chairman of the also mentioned that the new signings have already created a healthy competition within the club.
“The squad and the players that were there from last season have stepped up with the new players coming on board.
“Everyone is looking for game time now and in every position there is competition. I think it has been a very healthy transfer window for us and I think we brought in some fantastic players in the mix,” Comitis added.
