Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the appointment of Burundian coach Cedric Kaze as the club’s new assistant coach.
Kaze replaces Fernando Cruz, who left the position after just two months to take on a new role with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.
Kaze and Chief’s head coach, Nasreddine Nabi, previously worked together during the Tunisian’s successful stint with Tanzanian giants,Young Africans.
In a statement on Thursday, Amakhosi confirmed the appointment, stating that it aims to “bolster the club's performance and aspirations for the season”.
The Phefeni Glamour Boys are currently in a rebuilding phase after finishing in 10th place in the league table last season.
Under Nabi's leadership, they have made a promising start to the new season, currently sitting sixth in the league table with six points from three games.
“Kaizer Chiefs have appointed Cedric Kaze as the new assistant coach. This strategic addition to coach Nasreddine Nabi's technical team aims to bolster the Club's performance and aspirations for the season,” Chiefs said in a statement.

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr said Kaze’s close relationship with Nabi will be beneficial to the club.
"Coach Cedric has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep understanding of the game throughout his coaching career.
"His familiarity with coach Nabi's methods and their proven partnership will be invaluable as we aim for excellence on the pitch," Motaung Jr.
