AmaZulu returned to winning ways after edging SuperSport United 2-1 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday night.

The KwaZulu-Natal side won their first game at home since December, and jumped into ninth place on the Premiership standings.

Rowan Human, who has found new life under the new technical team, broke the deadlock with a rocket of a shot after 15 minutes.

The diminutive midfielder arrived late into the box after a Riaan Hanamub cross was poorly cleared by Matsatsantsa defender Siyabonga Ndebele, and rifled a half-volley into the net.

SuperSport took time to get into the game, and after the half-hour mark, they got the rewards following a brief spell of dominance when Siphesihle Ndlovu scored his first goal of the season.

The 28-year-old combined with his fellow former Orlando Pirates teammate Vincent Pule, who set him up to just tap in unmarked and pulled the game level.

It was Ben Motshwari who then decided the outcome with another long-range strike in the dying minutes of the match.

The defensive midfielder took a chance and drove forward, only to be found by a Human pass outside the box, and he drilled it in to steal all three points.

Having lost their last league game heavily against Stellenbosch FC, Usuthu were looking to get back on track, and it showed as they began the match with huge enthusiasm.

Following their early goal, they quickly created another golden opportunity in the 25th minute, but Tshepang Moremi couldn’t convert and dragged his shot wide.

The two teams went into the break at 1-1 after a level-headed first stanza.

However, Pule seemed to be in the mood to test his ex-mate Richard Ofori in this match as he rattled the post inside two minutes of the second half.

Although both teams made various changes and pushed in the second stanza, it was AmaZulu who emerged victorious on the night.
