The cancellation of a star-studded show, ‘Champions’, has hit viewers with a wave of disappointment after Mzansi Magic confirmed that it would not be renewed for another season months after its explosive premiere.

The show features talented cast members such as Jo-anne Reynecke, Sello Maake ka-Ncube, Tumisho Masha, Kwenzo Ngcobo, Kgomotso Christopher, Keitu Sankola, Thato Dithebe, Minki Malatji, Rethabile Mohapi, and Thabo Malema, among many others.

Mzansi Magic revealed that the last episode will broadcast on January 31 2025, with production for the season having concluded last month.

“Firstly, to our cast, Tshedza Pictures, sponsors, and advertisers, thank you for your ongoing support for ‘Champions’ and your efforts in entertaining our Mzansi Magic viewers,” said Shirley Adonisi, director of Local Entertainment Channels.

“Mzansi Magic plays a pivotal role in entertaining viewers during prime-time, and we continue to keep up with the latest television trends.

“We are currently in the development of several new show concepts not limited to telenovelas and fine-tuning our key returning shows to ensure that Mzansi Magic’s prime-time 2025 slots are well received,” she said.

With only a few months remaining, fans can anticipate even more breathtaking and unexpected plots along with more thrilling cameo appearances.

Reynecke, who portrays the role of Sne Modise, is a symbol of resilience and ambition in a male-dominated football empire fighting through a whirlwind of romantic and betrayal issues while her father, Washington, undergoes abrupt changes in his life.

Maake ka-Ncube plays Washington Modise, a former player who is now an entrepreneur, gave his own football team, the Shanghai Giants FC, life by combining his keen financial acumen with a passion for the game.

His narrative is a gripping blend of drive, difficulty, and the unwavering quest for greatness.

Wife to Washington, Lucinda Modise (actual name Christopher) is a remarkable story of unwavering support, quiet strength, and the significant role a partner may play in the fast-paced world of power and success.

Prominent for his powerful performance in ‘The Wife’, Ngcobo, who plays Zipho, is a giant in the field of talent management.

In a world where both are continually put to the test, Zipho’s story is about managing the complex web of both personal integrity and professional achievement.

Actor Masha, well-known for his several on-screen personas, portrays Philemon Modise, a man who feels that his brother Washington has long eclipsed him and that the world has not yet realised his actual value.

His story is one of unrelenting pursuit of one’s own fame, money, and sibling rivalry.
