Former leader and member of the South African Rainbow Alliance (Sara), Colleen Makhubele said “it was God’s will” that drove her to join the uMkhonto weSizwe Party.

The former Joburg metro speaker shocked South Africans after she ditched her brain child to be an official member of the MK Party last month.

Makhubele wrote on her social media pages that the MK Party provided her the platform to grow as a politician, adding that the political party valued her.

“It was God’s will that I should come here to realise how much love there is in the world, and to get my sense of values right. Above all else, I have had a chance to know myself ‒ neither saint nor evil, just a bundle of capabilities in the hands of God,” said Makhubele.

Makhubele, a staunch Christian, implored netizens to pray for former president and party leader Jacob Zuma.

“Let us pray for our MKP and uBaba. We are called in this hour to use whatever talent we have usefully and creatively for the benefit and advancement of this country and Africa,” she said.

Shortly after she announced her resignation, Makhubele assured Sara members that the party will not collapse despite her departure.

She further stated that Sara was founded on the basis and principles of consolidation of minority parties, therefore her political vision is set to thrive within the MK Party.

“I also wish to assure you that this work of my life will continue in the MK Party, I will not be lost to the communities and South Africans who put their trust in us.

“My decision to join the MK Party will only amplify the work we were doing in Sara. I will ensure that I carry with me the values and ethics that bound us tougher,” she said.

While MK Party members supported her for instilling Christian values within the organisation, netizens deemed Makhubele as a flip flopper and opportunistic.

“Your alignment with the MK Party is not God’s will, it is pure opportunism. The MKP is nothing more than a den of greed-driven sociopaths and anti-Christ looters, hell-bent on destroying South Africa and draining its coffers for selfish gain. Let us forget you could not even muster enough support to lift Sara out of the electoral basement. Your real motivation is self-interest, chasing a paycheck and hoping for a seat at the looting table,” said Martin Nel.

“It is sad how God’s name is used to justify power mongering and forked-tongue politicians. Just wallow in your gnawing pain of political confusion,” said Sir Bobb.

“Politics of the stomach. You saw that you won’t get anywhere with your stokvel party. It looks like uBaba has a chance to use you, because parliamentary positions are all filled in,” said Mhlungwane.

“If there was a prostitute of politics, Colleen would fit perfectly. She is in survival mode, nothing to offer,” said Black Motsho.
