Not only ordinary South Africans are affected by load shedding; even the Minister of Minerals and Energy, Gwede Mantashe, was affected by the annoying blackouts.
Mantashe could be seen wandering in the dark plenary hall at the Gallagher Estate where Cosatu is holding its 14th national congress.
Delegates seemed annoyed as the generators kept failing to kick in as they stood at the doors of the hall.
Mantashe was expected to deliver a message on behalf of the ANC to Cosatu delegates gathered in Midrand.
On Monday the workers had refused to be addressed by Mantashe, blaming the ANC for most of the problems the country was experiencing, including the load shedding which was crippling the country’s economy.
Some delegates laughed at Mantashe as he traipsed around in the dark before the congress could proceed.
Cosatu had criticised the ANC on its failures but the federation said it remained an important part of the tripartite alliance.
