Johannesburg - Joburg Tourism has launched a three-day experience for various stakeholders to explore the city and discover some of the many attractions that are on offer.
Part of the itinerary included a tour in Soweto, among that a visit to the Eyethu Lifestyle Cellar and the Vilakazi Wine Bar.
For the rest of the group who were feeling a little more adventurous, the day was filled with sky-high adventures.
Fly South Africa Wise took the tourists for a helicopter ride over Soweto.
It was a quick six-minute flight over parts of Soweto, including Orlando East and West, and visitors could enjoy incredible views of the stadiums, malls and Orlando Towers.
Elizabeth Petrus from Namibia said she enjoyed the thrill.
“It was a great experience and I will definitely do it again. It was awesome being in the air, and the stadiums are beautiful.”
She said the ride was a great introduction to the rest of the three days.
The Star’s reporter Mpiletso Motumi was among the tourists aboard the helicopter.
“I chickened out at the last minute after my phobia of heights kicked in. Petrus went in for the kill. I love Jozi. I have no idea how people live here and they don’t come here to do this,” she said.
The team from Fly South Africa Wise have pulled out all the stops to have young and old enjoy the experiences.
It specialises in affordable trips across Joburg and Pretoria, and have also invested in taking schoolchildren on air trips to expose them to the many jobs that are on offer in the aviation industry.
