Joburg wine lovers and foodies, prepare your palates and save the dates! The much-anticipated Pick n Pay Wine & Food Festival is making a return to The Wanderers Club on Saturday, October 5, and Sunday, October 6, 2024.
Promising to be bigger and better than ever before, this annual celebration is set to tantalise your taste buds with a variety of premium experiences, from wine tasting to gourmet delights, all amidst a lively and festive atmosphere complete with live music.
Boasting over 50 exquisite South African wines, goers can indulge in a broad spectrum of flavours. Whether you fancy bold reds, crisp whites, summery rosés, or the effervescent delights of Cap Classique, Prosecco, and French champagne, there is something to entice every wine enthusiast.
The weekend will also feature the Pick n Pay Tasting Room experience where renowned wine farms and chefs will host 30-minute sessions, pairing gourmet canapés with finest vintages to create an engaging and flavourful journey.
Gavin Levers, head of liquor at Pick n Pay said they are thrilled to bring the festival back to Johannesburg.
“This is more than just a tasting event - it celebrates South Africa’s incredible wine industry and our love for great food. We’ve curated a range of experiences that offer something for everyone, from wine novices to oenophiles, all in a relaxed and festive setting,” said Levers.
According to the organisers, the festival will provide a perfect setting to unwind, offering ample seating areas and lush lawns where you can enjoy your favourite bottle, savour gourmet food, and revel in the day's ambiance.
Goers can preorder picnic bags stuffed with delicacies like fine cheeses, cured meats, fresh bread, biltong, and hummus.
Additionally, a fresh food market will feature dishes prepared with the finest ingredients, including fish and chips, fresh salads, sushi, indulgent cheese, and charcuterie boards.
For those craving more hearty fare, the store's food trucks will serve up popular favourites like burgers and pizza.
For serious wine aficionados, early access offers the advantage of uninterrupted interaction with the exhibiting wine producers from noon.
Pick n Pay Wine Club members enjoy exclusive benefits such as early entry and discounted ticket bundles.
General access is priced at R275 and includes a tasting glass and 20 wine-tasting tokens, with the tasting room experience available for an additional R100.
VIP hospitality on Sunday costs R2850 and will provide an opulent experience featuring a luxurious, exclusive shaded seating area, and complimentary food and drinks service throughout the day.
The festival grounds will be open from 1pm to 6pm, with wine-tasting stalls concluding at 4.30pm.
